At today’s Jacksonville Jaguars practice, two of the most iconic players in college football history connected for a touchdown pass.

During today’s practice, Jaguars rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence slipped out of the pocket and made his way towards the left. He straightened up and threw a pass to the endzone, where tight end Tim Tebow was there in single coverage with outstretched arms to nab the ball for a touchdown.

The play got a pretty strong round of applause from the many Jaguars fans in attendance. Video of the play is quickly going viral.

But the reaction in the comments is rather different. Just about everyone is complaining that we shouldn’t take the play seriously for a litany of reasons:

So it doesn’t look like the play particularly impressed most people. But that might be besides the point.

The Trevor Lawrence to Tim Tebow connection is a rare play between two of the most dominant players of two different decades.

From 2006 to 2009, Tebow set records as a quarterback at Florida, winning the Heisman Trophy along with two national championships before going to the Denver Broncos in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft.

From 2018 to 2020, Lawrence was one of the most successful quarterbacks in college football history, winning a national title at Clemson and never losing a regular season game.

Like it or not, we may be seeing more of them connecting in the upcoming regular season.
