Few NFL players, if any, have been more outspoken against the league’s 2021 protocols than Buffalo Bills wide receiver Cole Beasley.

Beasley, one of the top slot wide receivers in football, has made it clear that he will not be receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. The former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver strongly disagrees with the policies and protocols put in place regarding the vaccine.

Those views were heightened this week, when the NFL announced that teams could be forced to forfeit games this fall, if a certain amount of unvaccinated players test positive.

Former NFL running back O.J. Simpson had a message for Beasley on social media.

“Now I’m watching the Buffalo Bills,” said Simpson. “I’m watching (Cole) Beasley and I like Beasley. I love how he played for the Bills last year, but this talk about losing his rights if he got his shot… B.S.! You don’t have a right to drive at 0.08 alcohol consumption in your blood. You don’t have a right to drive over 80 miles per hour…. Those are safety issues. This whole thing is about safety–public safety–it’s not about your rights.”

Simpson believes Beasley should sit out.

“I like what (Jerry) Hughes, defensive end for the Bills, is saying,” Simpson added. “Look man, what the league says now is that you’re not gonna get paid if you get COVID and it costs the team games. You don’t have the right to cost your teammates a game check. You’re taking food off their table! You don’t have the right to put them in jeopardy health-wise. You don’t have the right to do that. My suggestion is opt out. If you don’t want to get the shot, don’t play. I’m sure you’ve got enough money to last you, but you don’t have the right to put your team in financial and physical jeopardy.”

Beasley does not plan on opting out, of course.

The Bills are scheduled to open the 2021 regular season on Sunday, Sept. 12 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
