Look: Damian Lillard Has Clear Goal For Next Season

What would the Trail Blazers be without the services of Damian Lillard? A basement dweller in the Western Conference. That’s how much he means to Portland’s organization.

This is the first off-season of Lillard’s career that he’s grown frustrated with the Trail Blazers. Despite his tremendous efforts, Portland was bounced by the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs. Denver then went on to get swept by the Phoenix Suns.

The Blazers are nowhere close to being a championship contender. And Lillard isn’t happy. But instead of focusing on things he can’t control, the superstar is focusing on things he can. One of those things is improving his personal on-court play.

Lillard isn’t taking much of a vacation this off-season. In his latest Instagram post, he’s working out on the beach. He’s on a mission to “make the next season be my best season.” Take a look.

The real question is will he be playing in Portland next season? There’s plenty of reason to believe he could be playing for a new team later this year.

Damian Lillard deserves better than what the Trail Blazers have given him. They have to make a big splash this off-season and land him a more formidable No. 2 star. With all due respect, C.J. McCollum just isn’t the answer.

Landing Lillard another superstar could change everything for Portland. If the Blazers are unable to do so, though, it could mean the end of his stint with the Trail Blazers.
