Like several cafes, Hemphill underwent remodeling but kept its inexpensive home-cooking breakfasts, chicken-fried steaks, $10 Tex-Mex combos and $15 carne guisada or steak platters.

Younger members of the Khan family gave it fresh paint and a new sign; 3208 Hemphill St., a half-mile west of Interstate 35W, facebook.com/hemphilldfw.

Philadelphia-based Audacy, formerly CBS, is kind to promote Restaurant Week. But the website is so clunky and frustrating, it hurts the charities.

(It’s a chance to try new restaurants like Don Artemio or Fitzgerald’s, or just go for a $39 dinner at Mac’s on Main or a whole month of Rise Souffles.)
