Lodi Fire and Rescue warns of bad batch of kerosene sold at Lodi gas station

Fifty gallons of a bad batch of kerosene was sold Saturday at a Lodi store, according to Lodi Fire and Rescue.

In a Facebook post, the agency said the kerosene was was delivered to Friendly Express, 830 Bank St., Lodi around 10 p.m. Friday, with 50 gallons sold until around noon Saturday. People who purchased kerosene during that time are asked to return it to Friendly Express for exchange.

The fire department said another fuel was mixed with the kerosene tank accidentally. Kerosene is typically used in home heating.

"This is a potentially very dangerous situation," a Facebook post from the fire agency stated. "This bad kerosene can cause damage to heating equipment, short and long term, and can in the right conditions, cause an explosion. This PSA is in an abundance of caution with Friendly Express and the fuel supply company."

There have been no reports of any heaters being damaged or any other incidents, the fire agency said.
