Letters: Record Breaking Homicides in 17 American Cities

Dear Editor,

In Rochester, NY, New Haven, CT, Philadelphia, PA, Columbus, OH, Atlanta, GA, Macon, GA, Toledo, OH, St. Paul, MN, Milwaukee, WI, Indianapolis, IN, Louisville, Jackson, MS, Baton Rouge, LA, Portland, OR, Albuquerque, NM, Tucson, AZ, and Austin, TX, 16 of those 17 cities run by democrats, racked up record-breaking numbers of homicides in their cities with their policies on gun control. In addition to these cities the same statistics apply to Chicago, Illinois, New York City, NY, and Los Angeles, CA.

It is interesting how the democrat party leadership’s gun bans work. The liberal ideology tells us if we make laws against gun ownership and ban guns, since in their ideology it is the guns that kill, instead of the person using the gun, we find where that has been in effect in Chicago, Illinois they have had almost as many murders recorded than both New York City, and Los Angeles combined last year, 2021. Chicago at 800, New York City at 485, and Los Angeles at 392.

One wonders how long it will take for the democrat party’s voting members to wake up to the fact their leadership has saddled them with policies and practices that are in many cases harmful to the American people, including the voting democrats. It seems more logical for political calculations and party stubbornness to be set aside and study the policies and procedures that work in other states and cities that have demonstrated lower gun violence in their cities. Working together for the good of all Americans rather than along party lines would produce better results.

Perhaps it is time for liberal democrats to re-evaluate their ideology.
