LeSean McCoy Reveals The Plan For His NFL Future
It’s been a while since we’ve heard from former All-Pro running back LeSean McCoy, who has now won back-to-back Super Bowl rings with two different teams.
McCoy is among the very few players the Tampa Bay Buccaneers DIDN’T re-sign this year as they re-assembled the roster that led them to Super Bowl glory. But while McCoy hasn’t gotten signed yet, he’s not ready to retire – not entirely anyway.
In a recent interview, McCoy was asked about his NFL future. McCoy said that he’s healthy and ready to play in 2021 at the age of 33, but he wants to find the right fit first. He added that if he doesn’t find the right fit, he’s ready to retire.
“If the phone rings and it’s a good team I like and it’s a great fit I might go. And if not I’ll go into the sunset,” McCoy said, via WHTM.

LeSean McCoy is a six-time Pro Bowler and a two-time First-Team All-Pro running back. He’s a member of the vaunted 10,000-yards rushing club, ranking 22nd in NFL history. He could crack the top 20 with another 150 yards, and reach the top-15 with another 1,000.
McCoy made his bones with the Philadelphia Eagles, enjoying six incredible seasons in Philly before joining the Buffalo Bills in 2015. He made three Pro Bowls in four seasons in Buffalo, and was their feature back in 2017 when they finally ended their 17-year playoff drought.
But as with many running backs who reach the age of 30, McCoy soon hit a wall and his production plummeted. Each of the last three years have seen new career lows in most rushing categories.
2021 may not be LeSean McCoy’s final NFL season. But he’s getting pretty close to it.
