After a couple of quiet weeks, Kansas State's football recruiting shifted back into high gear this week with three new defensive commitments for the 2023 class.

The most recent was cornerback RJ Lester from Northside High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas, who announced his decision Thursday on social media.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Lester is the 16th player overall and third cornerback to commit to the Wildcats in the 2023 cycle. Kanijal Thomas from Del City, Oklahoma, and St. Louis product Donovan McIntosh are the others.

Lester made the announcement during an unofficial campus visit, choosing K-State over offers from Tulane and Tulsa.

K-State's big week started on Monday with the addition of defensive end Ryan Davis from Glendale, Arizona. Davis, who is listed at 6-5, 240 pounds, recorded 26 tackles, including 6.5 sacks, as a junior last year at Sandra Day O'Connor High School.

Davis, who took an unofficial visit to Manhattan in late June, had 11 scholarship offers, including Washington State, Oregon State and Boise State. He is the first defensive end in the 2023 class.

On Wednesday, the Wildcats picked up a pledge from 6-2, 230-pound linebacker Austin Romaine, a three-star prospect from Hillsboro, Missouri. Romaine committed during his visit to K-State.

Romaine is K-State's second linebacker commit in the class, joining Collin Dunn from Alabama. Romaine had 17 scholarship offers, most notably from Air Force and several Ivy League schools.

As a junior, he helped lead Hillsboro High School to a 10-2 record while recording 85 tackles, 19 for loss, with eight sacks and an interception. Romaine, who also played fullback for the Hawks, is projected as a middle linebacker at K-State.
