Julia Roberts Buys $8.3 Million Victorian-Style Home in San Francisco

Julia Roberts is taking on the Bay Area with the recent purchase of a century-old Victorian Revival–style home in San Francisco. The Oscar winner reportedly dropped $8.3 million on the Presidio Heights property, which was designed by Sylvain Schnaittacher and later renovated by John Wheatman.

The approximately 6,200-square-foot dwelling features five floors, five bedrooms, and four and a half bathrooms. Inside, the front entryway is all clean-lined, with polished hardwood floors and stark white walls; custom moldings, coffered ceilings, paneled walls, and bay windows throughout add to the home’s historic charm. In the living room, a brick red fireplace is flanked by built-in shelves, and a second fireplace is situated at one end of the formal dining area.

The kitchen features a delightful pop of olive green, courtesy of custom cabinetry and a long banquette-style breakfast bar. Other fun features of the residence include two different cozy lounge areas with marble fireplaces and views of the hilly neighborhood, plus a stunning all-white home office with walls of built-in shelves and cabinetry.

The master suite, located on the top floor, features a skylight and a bay window perfect for perching to watch the sun set. Several balconies provide extra outdoor space in addition to the back tiered patio, which has a spacious outdoor dining area.
