The first game of the NFL’s 2021 regular season should be a great one.

The 2021 NFL regular season will open with the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosting the Dallas Cowboys.

The Buccaneers are coming off a championship season in Year 1 of the Tom Brady era. Brady signed a two-year deal with the Bucs in free agency. It didn’t take him very long to win Super Bowl No. 7 with his new team.

The Cowboys, meanwhile, disappointed in 2020. Dallas lost star quarterback Dak Prescott to a season-ending injury. The NFC East franchise went on to finish the season at 6-10.

But hopes are high for both the Bucs and the Cowboys in 2021. It should be a great first game for the NFL’s regular season kickoff.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had a brutally honest admission on the matchup.

“We’re going to have a lot of prayer, so we could get the courage to show up,” Jones said, via NFL.com. “Let me tell you this: world-champion Tom Brady, Tampa, great atmosphere — what a better opportunity to step up there and be David against Goliath.”

David vs. Goliath is a bit of a stretch, as the Buccaneers are favored by less than a touchdown.

However, it would be a pretty notable victory for Jones’ team if they’re able to pull off the upset.

The Buccaneers and the Cowboys will kick off at 8:20 p.m. E.T. on Thursday, Sept. 9.
