The “Lipstick Lover” singer and Kansas City, Kansas native Janelle Monae will be at the Midland Theatre in Kansas City on Sept. 9.

General ticket sales for the 26-city tour will start on June 7 at 10 a.m. on Ticketmaster.

Pre-sale tickets for the Age of Pleasure tour will go on sale June 1 at 10 a.m. until June 6 at 10 p.m. through Verizon Up, a program for existing Verizon customers that offers discounted tickets and experiences.

Monae will release her fifth studio album “The Age of Pleasure” on June 9 and will kick off her North American tour on August 30.

“Her tour promises to light up your body, soul and all of your senses with an unforgettable performance featuring songs off her latest album and classic hits from her discography,” according to a statement from Live Nation, the entertainment company promoting the tour.

Since the last time she performed in Kansas City in 2018, the F. L. Schlagle High School graduate turned A-list singer and songwriter continues to grow her stardom. Monae’s latest hits include “Float” and “Lipstick Lover.” Other popular songs from past albums include “Tightrope” and “I Like That,” from her 2018 Grammy-nominated and critically-acclaimed album Dirty Computer.

While not in the recording studio, Monae has starred in the Oscar-nominated film “Hidden Figures,” the Oscar-winning film “Moonlight” and most recently 2022’s “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” among other roles.

When she’s in town, Monae may swing through Go Chicken Go and Gates Bar-B-Q, reportedly her favorite places for food in Kansas City, besides her family’s kitchen.

In addition to her Kansas City show, she will be in St. Louis at the Stifel Theatre on Sept. 13.
