Homicide suspect identified, at large after deadly Sacramento gas station shooting

Sacramento police have identified and are seeking the whereabouts of a suspect accused of shooting a woman dead in early August at a South Natomas gas station.

Detectives have issued a murder arrest warrant for Rashawn Maurice Anderson in connection with the Aug. 3 shooting, the Sacramento Police Department said in a Wednesday news release.

Officers responded shortly before 12:30 a.m. Aug. 3 to the 2600 block of Gateway Oaks Drive, where they located a woman with at least one gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news release.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Janiah Tane Johnson, 22, of Citrus Heights.

The location shown in coroner’s records for Johnson’s death is that of a Speedway gas station just west of Interstate 5.
