Get ready for some more spooky fun from the Sanderson sisters! Hocus Pocus is officially getting a sequel, and fans are already counting down the days until they can return to Salem, Massachusetts for another crazy adventure. Hocus Pocus has undoubtedly become a beloved cult classic ever since it first premiered in 1993, so it's certainly no surprise to hear that Disney is working on a second film.

So who will be coming back for Hocus Pocus 2? And what sort of trouble will the Sanderson sisters be getting into? Here's everything we know about Hocus Pocus 2.

Is Hocus Pocus 2 happening?

Someone better find the Black Flame Candle because it looks like someone just lit it. According to a Disney+ press release, production for the official Hocus Pocus sequel is underway in Rhode Island, with Anne Fletcher directing the follow-up.

According to The Providence Journal, a crew member on the Hocus Pocus 2 set confirmed that scenes from the film were shot in the College Hill area on Benefit Street. The local media outlet also obtained footage of the film's set on Chase Farm Park, where the crew built a life-size village that's slated to portray the Sanderson Sister's home in Salem back in 1670.

What will Hocus Pocus 2 be about?

Workaholics and Scroll Wheel of Time writer Jen D'Angelo is penning the sequel's screenplay. According to a Disney+ press release, Hocus Pocus 2 takes place "29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters who were executed for practicing witchcraft, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to figure out how to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before midnight on All Hallow's Eve."

Who is coming back for the Hocus Pocus sequel?

All three Sanderson sisters (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy) will be reprising their roles, and we can't wait to see what the beloved characters have been up to.

As for the rest of the cast, Whitney Peak, Lilia Buckingham, and Belissa Escobedo will be starring as three young women in present-day Salem who incite the wrath of the three witches, Disney+ reported in a press release. Tony Hale, Sam Richardson, Hannah Waddingham, and Froy Gutierrez will co-star in the film.

Doug Jones is also back as Billy, and he showed his costume on his account.

In September 2020, Bette Midler revealed to Entertainment Tonight that she was totally up for the sequel.

"I can't wait to fly! Oh yeah, [I'm interested]. We're just talking logistics," she revealed.

Meanwhile, Sarah Jessica Parker previously opened up to one of her BFFs, Andy Cohen, about the possibility of coming back.

"I think that it is something Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and I are all very hospitable to the idea," she said. "I think for a long time, people were talking about it as if people were moving forward with it in a real way, but we were unaware of it. We've agreed publicly to the right people, yes, that would be a very, very fun idea, so we'll see what the future holds."

Has the cast done any other reunions?

While we're going to have to wait until an official sequel comes out, the Sanderson sisters did not let the pandemic prevent them from reuniting together during spooky season 2020.

"Your 3 fav witches - @sarahjessicaparker @kathynajimy & ME - are returning for 1 night only on 10/30 at 8p ET! 'In Search of the Sanderson Sisters' is the best thing to happen to #Halloween since Hocus Pocus + Reeses Pieces," Bette Midler announced on her Instagram.

Their big reunion was all a part of Bette Midler's annual Halloween fundraiser for the New York Restoration Project. Fans only had one chance to watch the show since it wasn't rebroadcasted.

When will the Hocus Pocus sequel be released?

According to an Instagram post by Disney+, the highly-anticipated sequel will air exclusively on the stream in fall 2022.
