High flames, fires and people burned cause 653,000 Trader Joe’s candles to be recalled
Trader Joe’s recalled about 653,000 Mango Tangerine Scented Candles Thursday after they brought more to homes and users than fruity smells.
“The candle flame can spread from the wick to the wax causing a larger than expected flame, posing a fire hazard,” explains the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice.
Trader Joe’s knows about 14 incidents of high flames, “including three reports of minor property damage and two reports of minor burns.”
The candles have SKU No. 56879.
Trader Joe’s is eating the cost on this, offering $4 refunds on the candles to anyone who returns them to stores or sending a $4 Trader Joe’s gift card to those who fill out an online form. For the online option, come with a receipt or a photo.
