With a ‘heavy heart,’ local brewery is permanently closing after nearly a decade

After nearly a decade in business, a local taproom is closing its doors for good soon.

Twenty-Six Acres Brewing Company is permanently shutting down next weekend.

“After eight+ incredible years of brewing exceptional craft beers and becoming part of your community this decision was undoubtedly one of the most difficult we’ve had to make,” the team announced on Instagram.

“The support and enthusiasm we’ve received from our patrons and partners have been nothing short of amazing, and we are deeply grateful for the friendships and connections we’ve made along this journey.”

The local brewery — named in honor of Concord being established on 26 acres of land — made its mark as the town’s Concord’s third brewery when it opened back in 2016.

Now, the family-friendly/dog-friendly taproom is saying goodbye to the area, with one last week of trivia, poker and its classic craft brews to wrap out its final week in business.

This comes as the latest wave of local breweries closing in the Charlotte area. Of the nearly 50 food and drink spots that have closed this year, Twenty-Six Acres’ closure marks the seventh in seven months — following Frothy Beard Brewing Company and Devil’s Logic Brewery.

“While this chapter may be coming to an end, the memories and friendships forged within our walls will continue. Thank you once again for being a part of our journey. We raise a final toast to the memories we’ve created together and to the future adventures that await each of us,” Twenty-Six Acres’ team said.

The taproom’s last official day in business will be Sunday, Aug. 18.
