Heat advisory alert issued for Tri-Cities for long Labor Day weekend

The Labor Day weekend will offer some near perfect weather to celebrate the unofficial end of summer, with temperatures for part of the weekend more like mid summer than the start of September in the Tri-Cities..

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Saturday morning through Sunday evening for the Tri-Cities.

Expect a high of 95 Saturday and a high of 98 Sunday under sunny skies.

Labor Day the weather will cool some, but still will be well above the normal of 86 for the start of September. A high of 92 is forecast for Monday.

Overnight lows also will be unseasonably warm.

The low Saturday night is forecast at 61 and the low Sunday night is forecast at 66. Normal lows for the end of August and start of September are 52 in the Tri-Cities.

The start of the coming work week also will be warmer than usual, with a high of 89 Tuesday rising to a high of 94 on Thursday, according to the weather service.

The city of Kennewick said that rather than closing splash pads as planned on Monday, they will remain open through Sunday, Sept. 15.

The Weather Channel, which offers a longer forecast, predicts highs dropping into the 80s in the Tri-Cities for the second week of September.
