Grocery stores open Christmas Eve: Store hours for Kroger, Albertsons, Publix, Wegmans and more

The majority of the nation's grocery stores will close early Christmas Eve – most before dinnertime – and will stay closed for Christmas Day.

Many banks and restaurants also will close early Friday and fewer businesses will be open Saturday.

Drugstore chains including CVS and Walgreens will be open for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day along with many of the nation's convenience stores.

Stores are expected to be crowded Friday as shoppers pick up last-minute ingredients and gifts. Even Walmart stores will close at 6 p.m. local time, two hours before Target stores close.

On-demand delivery services including Instacart and Shipt will be delivering on Christmas Eve based on store availability.

Christmas Eve 2021 grocery store hours

To help plan your last-minute shopping down to the minute, here are Christmas Eve grocery store hours. Check with your closest location to confirm hours as hours may vary. Curbside pickup hours also may be different from store hours.

Acme Market: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

Albertsons: Some locations close early between 4 and 9 p.m. Friday; some locations closed Christmas while others will close early.

Aldi: Stores close at 4 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

Bashas: Open until 7 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

BJ's Wholesale Club: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, but will have a senior hour from 8 to 9 a.m.; closed Christmas Day.

Costco: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Christmas Eve; clubs closed on Christmas Day.

Cub Foods: Most stores close at 4 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

Dillons: Stores in the Kroger family will close early on Christmas Eve but hours vary.

Food Lion: Open until 7 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

Fresh Market: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

Fresh Thyme: Stores close at 6 p.m. Friday; closed on Christmas Day.

Giant Food: Open until 7 p.m. Friday; store hours vary Christmas Day.

Giant Eagle: Close at 5 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

Harris Teeter: Open until 7 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

H-E-B: Stores close at 8 p.m., curbside at 7 p.m. Friday; closed on Christmas Day.

Hy-Vee: Hours vary, but most close at 5 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

Ingles: Stores close at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve; closed Christmas.

Instacart: Delivery from Instacart will be available on Christmas Eve and Christmas, "matching most local retailer hours in the majority of markets where Instacart operates," the company told USA TODAY.

Jewel-Osco: Close at 6 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

King Soopers: Most stores close at 7 p.m. Friday and will be closed Christmas Day.

Kroger: Hours vary but stores will close early in the Kroger Co. family of stores for Christmas Eve. The majority of stores will be closed Christmas except for limited Ralphs, King Soopers and Houston stores, the company told USA TODAY.

Lidl: Close at 8 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

Lowes Foods: Closing at 6 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

Meijer: 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.; closed Christmas Day.

Natural Grocers: Stores close at 6:06 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

Publix: All stores open at regular hours and close at 7 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

Ralphs: All stores close at 10 p.m. Christmas Eve and most stores will be closed Saturday. Some locations will be open on the holiday.

Safeway: Some locations close early between 4 and 9 p.m. Friday; some locations closed Christmas while others will close early.

Sam's Club: Close at 6 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.

Save A Lot: Varies, regular business hours.; most stores closed on Christmas.

Shaw's: Close at 6 p.m.; closed on Christmas Day.
