Gig Harbor has been ranked one of the best small towns in Washington. Here’s why

Gig Harbor made an appearance in a recent Travel + Leisure magazine article about the 11 Best Small Towns in Washington.

The town was recognized for multiple reasons including the waterfront with Mount Rainier in the background.

Mayor Tracie Markley included the ranking in her weekly newsletter July 22.

“We already know this, of course, but it’s always nice to hear it from others,” she wrote.

The Travel + Leisure article said Gig Harbor is the “quintessential Washington postcard.”

“It’s hard to find a waterfront more picturesque than the one at Gig Harbor,” the article said. “... beautiful views can be enjoyed throughout, from strolling along the historic waterfront or visiting the Harbor History Museum. Nearby, you’ll find state parks and nature areas like Kopachuck State Park with lovely views and hiking trails. Located a short drive from Tacoma, it’s easy to pop over to Gig Harbor for a leisurely afternoon or day trip.”

Poulsbo, Leavenworth, and Friday Harbor are some of the other places the magazine included in the ranking.
