George Foreman sued by a third woman for alleged sexual battery against a minor in 1970s

Updated

A third woman has said Hall of Fame boxer George Foreman committed sexually battery against her when she was a minor and Foreman was in his 20s in the 1970s, according to a copy of a civil lawsuit obtained by USA TODAY Sports.

The woman, identified as Jane Doe, said she was 15 when Foreman propositioned her with money in exchange for him sexually abusing her, according to the lawsuit.

The woman said she refused and Foreman imposed his will on her and “began engaging in immoral and unwanted sexual acts against her,’’ according to the lawsuit. The woman said Foreman also committed childhood sexual abuse and Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress.

"Mr. Foreman adamantly and categorically denies these conveniently timed allegations from almost 50-years ago,'' Shawn Holley, an attorney representing the 74-year-old Foreman, said in a statement provided to USA TODAY Sports. "He will aggressively fight them in court."

The woman's lawsuit, filed in December, surfaced publicly this week, with a film about Foreman's life to be released Thursday.

In August, two women filed lawsuits saying Foreman committed sexual battery when he had intercourse with them when they were between the ages of 13 and 16, according to copies of the civil lawsuits with the Los Angeles Superior Court.

At the time, Foreman accused the women of trying to extort him for millions of dollars.

Attorneys representing the women told USA TODAY Sports the two sides had been trying to resolve the matter out of court at Foreman's request before talks broke down and the women filed suit.

Foreman countersued for defamation, attorneys representing the women told USA TODAY Sports.

The third woman filed her lawsuit in December with the Alameda County Superior Court in Alameda, Calif. The attorney representing her could not immediately be reached for comment.

Her lawsuit came to light publicly this week when Samuel Dordulian, an attorney representing the two other plaintiffs, wrote about it in a blog post timed to the release this week of a movie about Foreman.

Dordulian wrote the allegations of sexual abuse have gone ignored during publicity events for the film “Big George Foreman,” set to be released Thursday.

Alex Valenzuela, an attorney who works with Dordulian and also represents the two original plaintiffs, told USA TODAY Sports a recent press tour for the movie about Foreman “completely excludes the really important dark times in his life, which now three people are saying occurred.’’

In the initial complaints, Foreman was not identified by name. In each lawsuit, the defendant is described as a former professional boxer who defeated Joe Frazier in 1973 to become the heavyweight champion and would eventually lose the title.

Dordulian said the court later allowed the women he’s representing to identify Foreman by name and the cases have been moved to federal court.
