Fudge recalled from T.J. Maxx and Marshalls for ‘potential mold growth contamination’
Fudge has been recalled from TJX Companies’ off-price clothes and goods chains Marshalls and T.J. Maxx for “potential mold-growth contamination,” according to the manufacturer.
That’s in the FDA-posted recall alert for Montreal Fudge from Canada’s Authentik Fudge, based in Sainte-Julie, Quebec province.
Authentik explained, “We initiated this recall after a consumer complained about some mold pieces inside the purchased box and we found also some remaining unpacked sealed products at the manufactured place that had beginning signs of mold.”
The fudge might have gone to Marshalls stores in 38 states and T.J. Maxx stores in eight states.
Marshalls: Florida, California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Kentucky, Kansas, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Georgia, Washington, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Wyoming.
T.J. Maxx: California, Washington, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming.
The upside is this involves only 840 5.6-ounce boxes of Montreal Fudge from lot Nos. 0241500805; 0241690105; and 0241690205.
Return recalled fudge to the store for a full refund. At least, throw them away and deep into the garbage, so inquisitive animals can’t get to them.
