Fox News host urges Trump to show ‘humility’ after Supreme Court ruling

Fox News host and former Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) urged former President Trump not to take a victory lap after the Supreme Court ruled Monday that states cannot bar him from the ballot in this fall’s presidential election.

“I would encourage him to do something that he doesn’t often do, which is show humility because there are other decisions that are coming that he may not agree with,” Gowdy said on Fox. “I don’t think he’s going to win the presidential immunity case before the court.”

Gowdy’s comments were first highlighted by Mediaite.

The court voted Monday, by unanimous decision, to overturn a lower court’s decision that disqualified him in Colorado under the 14th Amendment’s insurrection ban.

Trump celebrated the news by calling it a “BIG WIN FOR AMERICA!!!” on his Truth Social website.

The former president has repeatedly suggested the various legal threats he faces are politically motivated and designed to keep him from running in this fall’s presidential election against President Biden.

Trump, Gowdy said, should “show a little restraint when you win and show a little restraint when you don’t win.”

“This was not a close case, and anyone who listened to oral arguments knows that. But neither is the presidential immunity,” the former congressman said. “I don’t think that one’s going to wind up being close to either — the other direction.”
