The momentum continues for Texas on the recruiting trail.

Four-star defensive tackle Sydir Mitchell is the latest addition to UT’s 2023 commitment list, picking the Longhorns on Sunday. Mitchell is a huge pull for defensive line coach Bo Davis and the Longhorns’ defensive front. Texas won out over Miami, Texas A&M and Georgia.

Mitchell is the No. 4 prospect in New Jersey and the No. 45 defensive tackle nationally in the 2023 recruiting cycle, according to 247Sports' composite rankings.

247Sports recruiting analyst Brian Dohn sees Mitchell as a future Power Five school starter, writing this assessment:

"Ideal size and length for defensive tackle. Works hands well and understands leverage. Possesses natural strength. Traits exist to be a run stopper in middle. Plays with low center of gravity. Strong and has natural power. Gets off well at line of scrimmage. Shows an ability to stack and shed. Manipulates torso to through gaps. Will benefit greatly as he matures and adds lower body strength. Saw varsity action at high-level North Jersey program."

Texas is in great position to compete for the No. 1 class in the nation for the 2023 cycle.
