Fort Worth car crash involving 3 vehicles leaves one critically injured, police say

A man was critically injured in a car crash Tuesday evening and is not expected to survive, the Fort Worth Police Department announced.

Police were dispatched to the intersection of the northbound lanes of Beach Street and the westbound exit lanes of the East Freeway in reference to a major accident at about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday.

The Fort Worth Fire Department and MedStar personnel also responded.

Upon arrival, police saw determined that a man had been driving west on the East Freeway and exited onto Beach Street. The man failed to yield to oncoming traffic and his car was hit in the driver’s side by a second vehicle traveling north in the right lane of Beach Street, police said. A third vehicle was traveling north in the left lane of Beach Street at the time of the collision and was hit on the passenger side as a result of the initial impact.

The first driver was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries and is not expected to survive, police said in a statement. The man’s name has not been released.

The occupants of the other two vehicles traveling northbound on Beach Street were examined on scene by medical personnel and were not transported for treatment.

Traffic Investigation Unit detectives will be conducting the investigation.
