The Los Angeles Rams have produced their share of productive running backs. Now, UCF standout Otis Anderson Jr. will look to join that group.

Anderson was a standout for the Knights during their impressive run over the last few years. His production topped out in 2019, with 726 rushing yards, 365 receiving yards, and eight total touchdowns from scrimmage.

He was a major four-year contributor, finishing with 3,207 yards and 26 scores from scrimmage. As a junior, he returned 21 punts for 277 yards and a touchdown as well.

Today, Otis Anderson announced that he has signed with the Rams after going undrafted. He’ll look to break onto a roster with a talented running back group ld by Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson Jr., though his abilities in the return game and as a receiver should help his case.

He joins another rookie out of UCF on the team as well. Jacob Harris, a rangy tight end who can also split out wide, was selected by the team in the fourth-round. He made a big impression on his new team in OTAs.

Akers and Henderson wound up with remarkably similar workloads in 2020, with Akers finishing with 625 rushing yards and two scores, and Henderson with 624/5. Malcolm Brown, now a Miami Dolphin, was also in the mix, with 419 yards and five scores. After a slow start to his rookie season, Akers clearly took the reins by season’s end. He had 424 yards from Weeks 11-16, missing Week 15 for the team, with a breakout 171-yard rushing day in a dominant win over the New England Patriots in Week 13. In two playoff games, he totaled 221 yards on 46 carries, with two touchdowns.

We’ll see if Otis Anderson can make an impact on a revamped Los Angeles Rams offense, with Matthew Stafford joining the team after the trade from the Detroit Lions.
