What flavor did ‘Landman’ actor Jon Hamm order at Fort Worth’s Curly’s Frozen Custard?
Actor Jon Hamm was spotted again at another Fort Worth eatery while in town filming “Landman,” Taylor Sheridan’s latest television production.
Hamm and his wife, Anna Osceola, visited the Camp Bowie favorite Curly’s Frozen Custard around 4 p.m. Monday, said Chris Wilks, general manager at the stand. The appearance of the “Mad Men” star took the entire Curly’s crew by surprise.
According to Wilks, Hamm and Osceola ordered a mint chocolate chip frozen custard with KitKat and happily gave a name for the order.
“He said, ‘Hi, I’m Jon’,” Wilks told the Star-Telegram Tuesday morning.

Hamm stopped by the southeast Fort Worth joint Goldee’s Barbecue on Sunday, where he posed with restaurant staff. But Wilks said he didn’t see the Goldee’s news until Tuesday morning.
Instead, Wilks and a fellow employee were chatting about movies and Hamm’s 2022 film “Confess, Fletch” came up. The film is the latest adaption of author Gregory Mcdonald’s Fletch book series, which previously was adapted into a pair of films starring Chevy Chase in the 1980s.
“Confess, Fletch” starred Hamm as the witty and fast-thinking investigate reporter Irwin M. “Fletch” Fletcher.
Betwixt the two Curly’s staffers talking about Hamm’s “Confess, Fletch,” who showed up at their doorstep?
“Fletch showed up,” said an excited Wilks.
It was relatively slow around the time Hamm and Osceola stopped by.
The pair ordered their custard then sat and ate at a table outside overlooking Camp Bowie Boulevard, Wilks said. Since there wasn’t a ton of people at Curly’s at the time, the couple weren’t bothered for autographs or photos.
But Wilks admits that he and other Curly’s staffers were peering through the windows trying to catch a glimpse of Hamm eating his frozen treat. When Hamm and Osceola finished their custard, they simply threw it away and went on their way, Wilks said.
Hamm is the first celebrity Wilks has seen at Curly’s since starting there last July.
He’s hoping with the newly opened Bowie House luxury hotel just down the street from Curly’s, that more celebrities will stop by the stand. Maybe one day Curly’s can be the dessert hot spot for celebrities in Fort Worth like Joe T. Garcia’s is for dinner service.
If Hamm does pop by Curly’s again, Wilks said he’ll ask for a photo with the actor, but for now, he’s just happy for the interaction.
“I made Fletch mint chocolate chip custard,” Wilks said.
Curly’s Frozen Custard is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday-Saturday at 4017 Camp Bowie Blvd.
Why is Jon Hamm hanging around Fort Worth?
Hamm is in town filming “Landman,” the latest series from North Texas native Taylor Sheridan.
“Landman” began production in Fort Worth last month and is expected to film in and around North Texas for the next few months. Hamm joins a previously announced cast that includes Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore and Ali Larter.
Hamm is set to portray Monty Miller, a titan of the Texas oil industry who has a long personal and professional relationship with Tommy Norris (Thornton).
“Landman” is co-created and executive produced by Sheridan and Christian Wallace, which is based on Texas Monthly’s podcast “Boomtown” that Wallace wrote and hosted.
The show’s synopsis reads, “Landman is set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas and is a modern day tale of fortune seeking in the world of oil rigs.The series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.”
“Landman” will debut on Paramount+.
