Father and son killed in shooting at Fort Worth house party; fundraiser planned for family

A fundraiser is planned this weekend for the family of a Fort Worth father and son who were killed in a shooting at their home.

Family members identified the victims as 41-year-old Fermin Ramirez and his 22-year-old son, Jacob Ramirez.

The fundraiser will be held at Marine Park, 303 NW 20th St., at 11 a.m. Saturday, the family said in social media posts.

According to police, officers responded about 1:50 a.m. last Saturday to Fermin Ramirez’s house in the 2400 block of Ross Avenue, in north Fort Worth. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene of the double homicide.

Police believe they were killed during an altercation with the shooter. Homicide detectives learned that an argument between several parties occurred and at least one person pulled out a handgun and fired multiple rounds, according to a police spokesperson.

The shooter fled the scene in a vehicle. No arrests have been made.

The family told Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV that the shooting occurred during a house party just after someone was asked to leave. Jacob Ramirez was shot outside the house, and his father was shot as he was going inside, WFAA reported.
