Ex-con accused of using cat to assault 73-year-old Florida man

A 56-year-old ex-con was arrested Monday after striking her 73-year-old male pal with a cat following an argument, police in Largo, Fla. charge.

Wendi Hird “threw (the pair’s cat) on the victim’s face, causing the cat to scratch the victim’s face,” according to an arrest affidavit filed in Pinellas County.

Hird is also accused of hitting the alleged victim directly on the left side of his face. Cops said the victim had visible injuries on his right knee and foot too.

According to the report, Hird declined to speak after being read her rights. There was also an unspecified “indication” of drugs and alcohol use at the time of the alleged incident, which occurred around midnight. No weapons were seized.

The Smoking Gun reports Hird, whose rap sheet includes battery and prostitution, spent five years in prison following a 2005 conviction for battering a police officer. She’d previously done a 1-year stretch for fleeing police custody.
