Zaire Wade, the son of Dwyane Wade, has reportedly made plans for his basketball future that will take him one step closer to the NBA.

According to league insider Shams Charania, Zaire plans to sign a contract in the NBA’s G League for the upcoming season. He then intends to join the Utah Jazz’s affiliate, the Salt Lake City Stars.

The choice of the Jazz was an obvious fit for the Wade family after Dwyane Wade became a part-owner of the organization earlier this year. The former NBA star will now get to bring his son aboard and help give him his first opportunity at the professional level.

Zaire, 19, burst onto the national scene a few years ago as a member of the Sierra Canyon high school team that featured numerous other high-profile recruits, including LeBron James’ eldest son, Bronny. Unfortunately, injuries and COVID-19 sidetracked Wade’s senior season in 2020 and he was left without many options for his basketball future.

A three-star combo guard, Zaire opted to attend Brewster Academy in New Hampshire for a post-grad year as he surveyed potential opportunities. He received offers from a handful of college programs during that time, but ultimately decided that a leap to the G-League would be his best chance to reach an NBA roster.

His father, Dwyane Wade purchased a minority stake in the Jazz in April of 2020, just before the team claimed the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference last season. He explained that a major reason he chose Utah was because of his brother-like relationship with Donovan Mitchell.

With Zaire now on the way to the organization, it looks like the situation will become somewhat of a family affair.
