A hiker stumbled upon a “decomposed body” while walking off trail, Utah police said.

The hiker was walking near Ghost Falls Trail in Corner Canyon on July 18, the Draper City Police Department said. He reported finding a body.

Investigators rushed to the scene to recover the remains. A wallet was found nearby, police said.

“A man’s wallet was located near the remains and contained a driver’s license belonging to Bradley Cutler,” police said in a news release.

Culter, 53, was reported missing in 2019. He was last seen in Millcreek, according to the police department.

“Based on this information, we believe these are the remains of Mr. Cutler,” police said. “The Medical Examiner’s Office is working on confirming the man’s identity.”

Ghost Falls Trail is a “moderately challenging” out-and-back hike. It’s about 3 miles and takes a little under an hour and a half to complete, according to hiking website AllTrails.

The trail is popular for hiking and mountain biking.
