Dallas Weather: Isolated storms overnight before more storms Wednesday

DALLAS - Isolated storms will be seen in some areas across North Texas on Tuesday night, with more storms possible on Wednesday.

Earlier in the day, the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for Navarro, Freestone, Henderson, and Anderson counties through 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Flash flood warnings were also issued for Anderson, Freestone, Hill, and Navarro counties. A flood warning was issued for Fannin County.

FOX 4 Weather meteorologists said this round of storms will linger through the afternoon with heavy rain and possible hail or gusty winds.

Large hail and a possible tornado are not out of the question south of the metroplex.

Storms with a hail risk are still possible Tuesday night as a cold front sweeps across the area. The highest chance looks to be east of Interstate 35E.

Dallas Fire Rescue has two firs stations staffed with swift water rescue teams, one on the northeast side of the city and one on the southeast side.

Crews tested the motors on the swift water boats and double-checked their gear on Tuesday afternoon.

"Any time you see water on the road the golden rule is don’t drive through it. I know people say, oh I can drive through it up to my tires a certain level. Don’t try it. The water will take your vehicle in a hurry, even 6 inches of water can move your vehicle off the road. We’ve had too many instances of people trying, and it becomes fatal," said Dallas Fire Captain Timothy Baker.

Baker added that swift water is dynamic and despite their best efforts firefighters may not be able to get to you in time, turning a rescue effort into a recover effort.

The wet weather is expected to continue on Wednesday with a 70 percent shot at rain. Temps will also struggle to get out of the 60s.

By Thursday, the rain will move out of our area and temperatures will rebound into the low 70s. It will be quite nice.

Friday also looks pleasant with some high clouds to push temps back to near 80 with low humidity.

The weekend continues to warm with some clouds but no precipitation.
