Crews work quickly but fire heavily damages San Luis Obispo County home

Toni Davis, Cal Fire PIO

Cal Fire crews knocked down a residential structure fire Saturday in Nipomo.

The blaze was seen at 9:16 a.m. at the rear of the home on the 1800 block of Vieja Road.

“No one was injured in the blaze,” according to Toni Davis, Cal Fire public information officer. “The residents were not home at the time of the fire.”

About 25% of the rear of the home was extensively damaged and the interior sustained major smoke damage, Davis said.

Six engines responded to the fire that was knocked down and contained within an hour, Davis said.

Additional firefighting equipment, medical response, Pacific Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas Co. also were at the scene, according to the Pulse Point App.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Davis said.
