Competitive Eater Devours 'Adult Happy Meal' in Under 1 Minute

An Auckland-based competitive eater made her way through her own version of an adult Happy Meal from McDonald’s in under one minute, with the fast food feat shared to YouTube on October 30.

Competitive eater and model Nela Zisser can often be found making her way through outrageous food challenges.

This time out, she couldn’t resist the hype around the launch of what’s being called a “Happy Meal for adults” by McDonald’s. The menu option launched in the US in early October, though Zisser said it’s not currently available in her homeland.

She decided to improvise though, creating her own adult version of the much-loved meal from the McDonald’s menu, even grabbing herself a Squirtle Pokemon toy to round out the Happy Meal experience.

Zisser’s video shows her undertaking the challenge three times, coming in at just over a minute the first time, just over 58 seconds the second time, and her third try again coming in at just over a minute. “That was so much harder than it looked,” Zisser tells the camera after the third try, adding “I’m very full now”.

Zisser’s YouTube account chronicles such food feats as wolfing down 10 Burger King Whoppers in 17 minutes, devouring a 1-kg burrito in just under 100 seconds, and consuming a 2.2-pound jar of Nutella in under four minutes. Credit: Nela Zisser via Storyful

NELA ZISSER: Hey, guys. It's Nela here today. I'm going to be doing a really epic challenge. I've got the McDonald's adult Happy Meal here in front of me, and I'm going to be seeing how quickly I can eat it. Now, the McDonald's adult Happy Meal consists of either a Big Mac or ten chicken nuggets. I got the Big Mac, a medium fries, and a medium drink.

I got Coke, no sugar. Yeah. So Matt Stonie did this in 37 seconds. His first attempt was 46 seconds. I think he did, like, three attempts or something. So 37 seconds is the time to beat. I'm going to do my best. I don't know if I can do it that quickly, but I'm going to try.

New Zealand actually doesn't do adult Happy Meals, so I had to make my own. I got a little-- I got my little Squirtle-- my little Squirtle toy here because looking at Squirtle makes me happy and, you know, feel like he's the type of toy-- he's probably actually too high quality to come in a McDonald's Happy Meal, but-- yeah.

So we're going to sit him right there for the duration of this video. I've also got a couple more Big Mac combos here as well. The chips are still in the bag, trying to keep it a little bit warm. So if I don't do this one quickly enough, I'm going to try to do it a few more times. In the end, we'll see-- we'll see how we go. I'm very excited.

I'm so hungry right now. So yeah, let's get into it. All righty. I don't know how I'm gonna do this. I'm going to bring the drink down here just because a little bit worried about spilling it. I'm going to bring the-- OK. OK. I've got the drink there. OK. Ooh, exciting.

Put my hair behind my ears so I don't eat my own hair because that is never nice. OK. All righty. So Matt ate the burger first, and I think that's the way I'm going to go. Look how good this looks. This looks-- this is, like, a really nice Big Mac. This is a beefy Big Mac. OK.

So I'm going to start with the burger, then I'm going to eat the chips. OK. OK. OK. OK. Oh, why am I so nervous? I'm so nervous for some reason. Anytime I do, like, a speed challenge, it makes me so nervous. I don't know why. OK. OK. I'm not-- OK. Let's just go. Let's just go. OK. 3, 2, 1, go.

Oh my god.

[BURPS]

Oh my god.

[COUGHS]

Oh, that was difficult. The chips, like, got-- my face is very messy right now. The chips, like, got caught in my throat a little bit. Hoo. Oh my god. Only a minute. A minute and 6 seconds. I think I can do better than that.

I'm just gonna quickly go wash my hands, and I will be back. All right. Round two. I've got my hair tied up now. I've brought this closer to me, and the camera closer as well, so I'm not, like, reaching way over here to eat stuff. Got my drinks. I'm going to put my drink back down here.

So I think that was good. It was easier to, like, pick it up than to have it up here. Oh. Yeah, I've got my Big Mac, my chips. And let's go for round two. So, this time, we're trying to beat 1 minute and 6 seconds. I reckon I can beat that. I think I got a little bit choked up on the chips there.

I wonder if I should do the chips first. I don't know. Matt Stonie did the chips first on his second try, and I think he actually did worse, so I might just stick with the Big Mac first, you know? Reset this. Give you guys another little-- little peek at the Big Mac. OK. All righty. OK.

[EXHALES]

3, 2, 1, and go.

Oh my god. Ah. Ugh.

[CHUCKLES]

This had a piece of ice in it. Hoo. That was cold.

[BURPS]

Oh, pardon me. Oh my god. Hoo. That was surprising because the first one didn't have ice in it-- [COUGHS] so I didn't realize-- just coughed out a little bit of chip, I think. We'll just-- we'll leave that there.

[SIGHS]

Man. OK. That was probably, like, 56 seconds or something. Took me, like, a minute to press it-- a second to process all that. OK. OK. We're going to-- we're going to try again. We're going to go again. We're going to go again. OK. All right.

I'm going to go wash my hands again, and we're going to try one more time. OK, final try. I reckon I can-- I reckon I can-- OK, I can't beat 37 seconds. Let's just get that clear. But I'm going to try to beat my previous time. OK. All righty.

This cup is very wet. Just gonna give it a little-- very humid today, even though it's, like-- it's very-- it's, like, raining. It's the first time it's rained in, like, a little while. It's very humid, though. Everything is just sweating. OK. There we go. Hoo. OK.

Bring my little burger here, my little chippy chips there. OK. My little Squirtle, little Squirty. OK. Let's go. I'll have to reset. OK. It's all in our headspace.

[CHUCKLES]

All righty. I got my toasty Big Mac right here. Is it going to-- ooh, there we go. OK. OK. 3, 2, 1, go. Oh, OK.

[CHUCKLES]

It stopped. I didn't know if I pressed it. I was, like-- I pressed it. I didn't see it go. I don't know why. OK. We're going to start here. I didn't eat any. I just put it in my mouth. OK. 3, 2, 1, and go.

Oh my god.

[BURPS]

Oh, I got a piece of bread on my dress.

[CHUCKLES]

Oh my god. OK. It looks like my best official time was 58 seconds. It's probably a couple of seconds shorter than that just because I didn't press it in time. Damn. It was so much harder than it looked. Matt-- Matt Stonie is insane. How can he do that in 37 seconds?

I just-- I could never-- [CHUCKLES] I could never do that. It is so quick, so insanely quick, so props to you, Matt. Still pretty proud of myself, though. 58 seconds for my best one wasn't too bad. I'm very full now. But those were tasty. That was actually pretty good.
