Investigators search for suspect after child hit by stray bullet in Skyway

KING COUNTY, Wash. - Detectives are investigating after a child was hit by a stray bullet inside a Skyway apartment Thursday morning.

According to the King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO), dispatch received a 911 call just after 2 a.m. reporting gunshots at the Creston Point Apartments near the corner of Martin Luther King Jr Way S and S 133rd St.

When deputies arrived, they found a child injured by the shooting and took them to Harborview Medical Center.

Officials at Harborview told FOX 13 Seattle that the victim is a 10-year-old girl, and she is in critical condition.

Bullet holes have been observed in parked cars and some buildings.

At around 6 a.m., the KCSO’s Public Information Officer confirmed that the victim of the shooting was a juvenile. Another officer told FOX 13 that this could be a potential homicide investigation.

There are surveillance cameras throughout the complex.

KCSO has not released any suspect information, and there are no details on what led up to the shooting.

Creston Point Apartments is no stranger to violence.

In February 2022, a person was killed in a shooting at the complex.

In June 2023, two people were shot at the complex. One of the victims, a 17-year-old, was killed.

An official with the King County Sheriff's Office told FOX 13 Seattle that the June 2023 case has still not been solved.

FOX 13 Seattle reached out to the Creston Point Apartments for a statement. However, an employee told us they were not commenting.
