Chiefs Announce Decision On Training Camp Location

Last year, due to COVID-19, NFL teams were required to host training camp at their home facilities. Things will be a bit more normal for a number of teams this summer, including the defending AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs.

The team has announced that it will head to Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph this year. Training camp will open on July 28, running through Aug. 18.

MWSU has become a traditional site for the Chiefs during the summer. The team began hosting training camp at the school in 2010, after a few years conducting training camp in River Falls, Wisconsin before that.

“After a temporary relocation to Kansas City for the club’s 2020 training camp due to NFL COVID-19 protocols, the Kansas City Chiefs have announced that Chiefs Training Camp presented by Mosaic Life Care will return to the campus of Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, in July and will once again be open to fans,” the team said in its announcement.

While most practices will be free, MWSU will charge $5 for the practices on Friday, July 30, Saturday, July 31, and Sunday, Aug. 8.

The practices on Wednesday, July 28, and Tuesday, Aug. 10 will be exclusive to season ticket holders, and will not be open to the public. Fans can begin to reserve spots on Wednesday, July 7.

The Chiefs travel to the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals, and host the Minnesota Vikings in the preseason. They host the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 of the regular season on Sunday, Sept. 12.
