Check out these restaurants and their entries in the Downtown Macon French Fry Fight

Calling all foodie fans.

More than a dozen downtown Macon restaurants are competing Wednesday in a friendly French Fry Fight to win The Super Spud Award, a Mr. Potato Head trophy.

The event marks National French Fry Day. Click here for updated information, including hours each participating restaurant will be serving their competition entry.

“It’s just a way for us to promote downtown and get people out enjoying a fun event that was kind of different and unique during the slow summer season,” said Emily Hopkins, NewTown Macon’s director of place and Main Street Macon manager.

“We’re always looking to create events that have a lot of collaborative opportunities for lots of different businesses to participate, and these kinds of things always result in a spike of sales and people just being downtown.”

Unlike the annual Burger Week competition, no restrictions were placed on the prices that the participating restaurants may charge.

NewTown Macon will post Facebook links where participants may vote for their favorite fries in the competition on the NewTown page and the Downtown Macon page. Businesses will also have a poster with a QR code to vote.
