Bose to close Danville plant that makes parts for car speakers

Nov. 7—DANVILLE — Bose Corp. has confirmed it plans to close its plant in Danville.

Employees have been informed, but a date for the closure isn't being shared by Bose's corporate office.

The company, a maker of audio equipment, is based in Framingham, Mass.

"Bose will be making adjustments to its supply chain in North America. As part of these changes, we intend to close our operations in Danville," said Bose spokeswoman Joanne Berthiaume. "I can confirm it won't be an immediate closure, but we don't have more details to share at this time."

The Danville plant at 300 Eastgate Drive employs 16, she said.

Vermilion Advantage interim President and CEO Todd Lee said Bose's Danville plant, which makes coils for car speakers, has been part of the Danville community since 2009.

"Bose has been a great community employer since 2009," he said Tuesday. "Vermilion Advantage hasn't been informed of any decisions by the company, but we're here to assist Bose and their employees with any opportunities and challenges.

Lee said Vermilion Advantage has a jobs board listing opportunities in the community.

"Almost every one of our sectors is in search of good employees, so opportunities for someone looking to advance themselves are fairly unlimited in the community, and that's in manufacturing, health care, education and logistics," Lee said.
