The Peace Arch border crossing on Interstate 5 in both directions was closed for about 90 minutes starting about 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, according to the Canada Border Services Agency.

A U.S. traveler arrived at the Douglas port of entry and indicated there was a bomb in their vehicle, according to Canada Border Services Agency spokeswoman Rebecca Purdy.

All northbound and southbound traffic was temporarily re-routed to Pacific Highway port of entry through the NEXUS lanes, she said in an email Sunday, Jan. 15, to The Bellingham Herald

“The driver of the vehicle was processed in accordance to Canadian legislation and has returned to the United States,” Purdy said.
