Here are some of the biggest events in Miami during Presidents’ Day weekend

The insanely busy three days known as Presidents’ Day weekend is just about here, bringing with it traffic and crowds for good reason: There’s a lot to do.

Here are a few of the events happening around town.

Miami International Boat Show

If it’s Presidents’ Day weekend, the Miami Boat Show is in full swing on land and on the water, highlighting every water craft from kayaks to superyachts and more than 1,000 boats on display. The on-land events take place at the Miami Beach Convention Center (the main hub) and Pride Park, while the in-water parts will be held at Venetian Marina, Herald Plaza, Museum Park Marina, and Yacht Haven Grande Miami. One ticket gets you into five of those venues, but you’ll need a separate ticket for Superyacht Miami show at Yacht Haven Grande Miami.

Coconut Grove Arts Festival

Everybody’s favorite outdoor art outing returns with 285 artists — about 100 of them new to the popular show — as well as Kitchen Combat, where Coconut Grove chefs take on culinary challengers from around South Florida. You can also watch a muralist work live on The Stacks (six shipping containers that serve as a big canvas). Food and drink available for purchase.

Art Wynwood

Last year, this giant art show on the bay was canceled, but it’s back in 2023 with more than 50 galleries from around the world showcasing modern contemporary art. You’ll find it in the same location as Art Miami/Context. This year, large bags and strollers are not permitted.

Kite Festival

The wildest kites you’ve ever seen — whales, octopuses, a flying astronaut — take to the skies over Haulover Beach during this free family-friendly event. Bring your own kite or just grab a blanket, settle on the grass and watch the scene overhead. There’s also music and food and drinks for purchase. Expect a lot of traffic and get there early to get a parking spot.

Miami Concours

The popular motoring event returns to the Miami Design District to celebrate exotic cars and automotive history. Displays go up around the neighborhood showcasing cars on Friday, but the main event, which includes a display of Lamborghinis on 39th Street for the Italian manufacturer’s 60th anniversary, is Sunday.

Gay8

The Little Havana free festival, which features music, food, and fun with an eye toward community building, diversity, and inclusion, kicks off Feb. 18 with a preview party at 8 p.m. at Cuba Ocho on Eighth Street. The festivities begin the following morning, including “Dancing Queen: An ABBA Salute” at 4 p.m. on the First Horizon stage and headliners Nic N Taya on the Bacardi stage at 9 p.m.
