Ben Roethlisberger’s NFL career came to a close on Sunday night with the Steelers’ 42-21 loss to the Chiefs.

The Steelers started out the game strong (at least defensively) before giving up 21 points in the final six minutes of the second quarter.

With how the Steelers offense has played all season, that deficit was insurmountable and got even worse when at one point they were down 35-7. Nevertheless, Roethlisberger knows what he wants to do next now that he’s retired.

“I’m gonna do everything I can to be the best husband and father I can be,” Roethlisberger said.

With Roethlisberger now retired, the Steelers will have to figure out who his replacement will be.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that the likeliest scenario would be to have one of Mason Rudolph or Dwayne Haskins potentially start, plus draft a rookie in the NFL Draft.

There’s also the option of trading assets to get a veteran quarterback but it’s unknown if the Steelers will consider that possibility.

Whatever the case, a lot of Steeler fans are about to find out just how lucky they were to have a franchise quarterback for 18 years.
