This is Bellingham’s tastiest taco, according to the latest United Way competition
Last month, the second annual Tastiest Taco Competition and Fundraiser allowed participants to try tacos from 10 Bellingham restaurants and vote for their favorite, and now the votes are in.
The competition served as a fundraiser for United Way of Whatcom County, an organization that works to “invest donations into vetted local nonprofits to create lasting change,” according to the organization’s website.
This year, the nonprofit sold almost 200 of it’s “Ticket to Tacos” booklets that could be redeemed for the 10 free tacos, raising almost $6,000.
“All funds from this fundraiser will benefit United Way’s Community Impact Fund, helping to fund our network of over 20 local nonprofit organizations and programs and ensure that these lifechanging services remain available for our community,” Rebecca Ricks, United Way’s development and communications manager wrote in an email to The Bellingham Herald.
