Unfortunately, prices are on the upswing. According to AAA, the national average today is $4.07 and rising.

In Kentucky, the average price for regular gasoline is currently $3.82. A year ago, the national average was $2.57, while Kentucky's was $2.77.

Why are gas prices increasing?

According to a report from USA Today, concerns over Russia's invasion of Ukraine have put pressure on global oil markets and affected U.S. gas prices, even though the country buys very little oil from Russia.

GasBuddy noted this week was the 10th straight gas prices have increased.

“There are few words to describe the unprecedented rise in gasoline prices over the last week, with massive spikes coast to coast in both gasoline and diesel prices, as oil prices jump to their highest since 2008," GasBuddy's head of petroleum Patrick De Haan said in a statement. "Forget the $4 per gallon mark, the nation will soon set new all-time record highs and we could push closer to a national average of $4.50/gal. California could be heading for $5.50 per gallon with more stations charging $6 and beyond."

  • $3.89 at Sam's Club, 6622 Preston Hwy and Fern Valley Road

  • $3.89 at Valero, 1420 W. Broadway near S. 15th Street

  • $3.91 at Sunoco, 3130 Poplar Level Road and Illinois Avenue

  • $3.39 at Miller Service Station, 705 Main Street and Carver Street in Sacramento

  • $3.47 at Marathon, 625 N. Main Street and Morgantown Road in Franklin

  • $3.48 at Valero, 1817 KY-227 and Jay Louden Road in Carrollton
