Ash Wednesday: Mass times in English, Spanish in the Poconos and Lehigh Valley

For Catholics, the season of Lent officially begins on Ash Wednesday.

Because the COVID-19 virus is still present in northeast Pa., parishes will once again not be imposing ashes by thumb, the Diocese of Scranton said in a press release. Like in previous years, ashes will be distributed using a cotton swab or cotton ball, or sprinkled over the head.

Church of Saint John: 6:30 a.m. and noon. (The church will also be open for Eucharistic adoration, private prayer and distribution of ashes from 1 to 7 p.m.
