Anthony Waldron named Pike County Commissioner

MILFORD - R. Anthony Waldron, III has been appointed by the Pike County Court to serve as Pike County Commissioner, filling the unexpired term of Steven Guccini, who announced his retirement effective at the end of 2021.

The appointment was made December 29 by President Judge Gregory H. Chelak. By law the appointment needed to be a member of the same political party of the elector who is leaving; Guccini is a registered Democrat.

The term expires December 31, 2023; Waldron is required in that election year to run on the ballot.

Waldron, a resident of Palmyra Township, is a long-time practicing attorney, having begun in 1980. As an attorney he specializes in Real Estate (Commercial & Residential) Land Use, Municipal Government, Land Conservation, Estate Planning and Administration and Small Business formation and operation.

He currently serves as solicitor for several local nonprofit organizations and elected boards. Among the latter being the Wallenpaupack Area School District since 2004 and Palmyra Township- Pike County.

Waldron received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Villanova University in 1974 and a Doctor of Law from the Dickinson School of Law in 1977.

He joins the board of commissioners as the Minority Commissioner, serving with Chairman Matthew Osterberg and Commissioner Ronald Schmalzle, who are Republicans. The commissioners' first meeting for 2022 is set for Monday, January 3 at 11 a.m., when the board meets to re-organize. The meeting will be live-streamed on the County's YouTube channel.
