As if the Green Bay Packers didn’t already have enough issues on their plate, it appears another one of their stars is unhappy with his current contract.

Packers defensive end Za’Darius Smith is reportedly upset his franchise exercised the automatic conversion option on his contract, converting a significant portion of his 2021 salary into guaranteed money and pushing his cap hit against Green Bay over $28 million for the 2022 season. With this massive future price, Smith knows he’s likely to be cut of traded after this season, per ProFootballTalk.

This would be a moot point if Smith could sign a contract extension before next March, but it’s not looking like things are heading in that direction.

Smith seemed to hint at his frustrations with a tweet on Friday, writing “I need a realtor in GreenBay ASAP!!”

Notching his second straight Pro-Bowl season in 2020, Smith is an integral piece of the Packers’ pass-rush defense. Over the past two seasons, the former fourth-round draft pick has logged 26 sacks, 107 tackles and 60 QB hits.

While the Green Bay front office has been dealing with Aaron Rodgers drama for the past few months now, things really started to unravel on Friday. In addition to Smith’s reported dissatisfaction, superstar wide receiver Davante Adams also reportedly ended longterm contract extension discussions with the Packers.

With the future of three of their stars hanging in the balance, the Green Bay front office has quite a bit to consider as they head into the 2021 season.
