Anonymous SEC Coach Has Telling Comment On Oklahoma, Texas

Oklahoma and Texas will soon-ish be members of the SEC.

The Sooners and the Longhorns have officially decided to leave the Big 12 for a new conference. It’s unclear when exactly the two college football powers will join the SEC, but it’s expected to happen in the next couple of years.

While Oklahoma has been among college football’s best in recent years, Texas has not. Both schools will now be facing much stiffer competition in the SEC.

One anonymous SEC coach, speaking to Athlon Sports, had a telling comment on the future arrival of the Sooners and Longhorns.

“It’s certainly big news because of the logos on those helmets,” one SEC head coach texted to Athlon Sports. “But this is the only league where those guys would have to adjust to the league and not the other way around.”

That’s a mostly fair comment.

Oklahoma and Texas would have an adjustment period in any league they join, but the SEC is certainly the toughest conference the Sooners and Longhorns could have joined.

The SEC has been the best conference in college football for a while now. The additions of Oklahoma and Texas will only strengthen that claim.
