Aldi recalls about 28,000 coffee makers that can both make coffee and burn the user

Coffee makers should make hot water run through coffee grinds to make a beverage, not make hot water shoot out the machine to make the user run to urgent care. That’s why Aldi recalled about 28,000 Ambiano Single Serve Coffee Makers on Thursday.

As the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice said, “The recalled coffee makers can expel hot water from the top of the machine, posing a burn hazard.”

Of the 25 times Aldi knows about this happening, three involved the user suffering burn injuries.

This covers model Nos. 708924 and 708925 of the coffee makers, which came in purple, pink, gray and a barely blue. They were sold in Aldi stores in 38 states and the District of Columbia from July 2023 through September 2023 for $49.99.

That plus the tax will be the refund consumers will get if they take the coffee maker back to an Aldi store. But those customers wanting a $75 Aldi gift card need to go to Aldi’s recall site to register the coffee maker and get instructions on what to do with the appliance.
