Combate Global is the premier Hispanic mixed martial arts sports franchise.

Rosa will join Combate Global play-by-play announcer (and WWE alum) Max Bretos and analyst/commentator Rodolfo Roman in the TV booth to help call the live action in La Jaula, the Combate Global competition cage.

“I have always loved Combate and the sport of MMA, so I am excited about this new opportunity,” Rosa said in a release.

Combate Global CEO Campbell McLaren added: “We are looking forward to bringing ‘Thunder Rosa’ back to Combate Global for the first time since she fought for us in 2019, and having her call much more action from our television booth.”

Rosa, a tough combat sports competitor, fought MMA once for Combate Global. A tough battle, she went the distance in defeat to Nadine Mandiau in 2019.

Since making her professional MMA debut under the promotion of Combate on November 8, 2019, Rosa has emerged as one of the hottest commodities in professional wrestling.

Rosa, a native of Tijuana, B.C., Mexico and resident of San Antonio, Texas, notched her biggest professional wrestling victory to date on March 16, defeating Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. to win the AEW women’s world championship.

During her pro wrestling career, which began in 2014, Rosa also wrestled for Lucha Underground, Impact Wrestling, NWA, Ring of Honor, Shine, Tokyo Joshi Pro, WOW Women of Wrestling and more. She is a former NWA champ.

Her flamboyant ring attire and face paint are a big part of her in-ring persona.

Here is my video interview with Thunder Rosa about Combate Global, fighting MMA, commentating MMA, Sexy Star, AEW, Paige VanZant, Dan Lambert, American Top Team, and more.

A smart and versatile person, Rosa has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. She became an American citizen in 2019.

Her son, Anakin, is now wrestling professionally and has teamed with his mom at Mission Pro Wrestling in Texas. He is trained by mom and dad, Brian.

As for MMA, McLaren asked Rosa if she wanted to fight again, but now, with her pro wrestling career at a high level, she opted to work the broadcast table instead for Combate shows in English on Paramount+ on July 15 and July 22.

Combate Global is in the midst of producing 30 live events in 2022, with 4 shows scheduled for July, beginning on Friday, July 1, and continuing with fight cards on each of the next three consecutive Friday’s, including the 2 events that Rosa will sit in the television booth.

Fight Card for July 15

Combate Global announced a five-fight Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) lineup for Friday, July 15, streaming live on Paramount+ from Miami.

Paramount+ coverage will begin with a Combate Global pre-show at 10:30 p.m. ET/9:30 p.m. CT, and will continue with the fight action, beginning at 11 p.m. ET/10 p.m. CT.

In the women’s atomweight (105 pounds) main event, world-ranked Mexican battler Ana “La Guerrera” Palacios (6-1-1) will face fellow fast-rising star and Korean champion Bo Hyun Park (4-1). The matchup between Palacios and Park was originally scheduled and announced for the Combate Global event on July 1, but was scratched from the show due to COVID-19 protocols.

Palacios is a 23-year-old native of Mexico City where she is a member of the renowned Bonebreakers MMA team that is also home to reigning Combate Global World Bantamweight Champion David “The Black Spartan” Martinez.

Palacios will look for her third straight win in what will be her first start of 2022, after a pair of strong performances in 2021. In her last effort on July 23, 2021, Palacios submitted Chile’s Gloria Bravos with a keylock in the second round (1:24) of battle.

Also 23 years of age, Palacios’ opponent, Park, hails from Seoul and is a reigning atomweight champion in South Korea. Park is an aggressive striker, who likes exchanging punches and kicks with opponents, but is also well-versed on the ground, as evidenced by her last two bouts, each of which she finished with a rear-naked choke submission.

In a featured featherweight (145 pounds) contest, Muay Thai champion Carlos “El Diamante” Guerra (11-10) of Mexico City will face fellow hard-hitting striker Jean Marc “Kokito” Howell (13-7) of Oranjestad, Aruba.

The main card will be rounded out with a 150-pound catchweight contest between Ruben “El Diamante” Lozano (9-6) of Monterrey, N.L., Mexico and fellow battle-tested veteran Marcos “El Matador” Bonilla (5-7) of Van Nuys, California.

In a women’s flyweight (125 pounds) attraction on the undercard, Flore Hani (4-1) of Papeete, Tahiti, France via Irvine, California will take on Maira Mazar (7-4) of Las Vegas, Nevada. Georgie Medina (1-0) of Chicago, Illinois will battle fellow unbeaten prospect Antonio “Penton” Noda (1-0) of Miami at welterweight (170 pounds).
