Abducted 4-year-old from Bremerton found safe, mother arrested

BREMERTON, Wash. - The Washington State Patrol canceled an AMBER Alert for a 4-year-old boy who was abducted out of Bremerton after a deputy arrested the child's mother.

The Kitsap County Sheriff's Office says a deputy located the suspect, 39-year-old Shannon Michelle Isabell, and was able to stop her vehicle.

Isabell attempted to flee, but was unsuccessful and taken into custody, according to the Sheriff's Office. The child was recovered and is safe.

Isabell was booked into Kitsap County Jail on suspicion of first-degree kidnapping, resisting arrest, violation of an order of protection and first-degree burglary.

The AMBER Alert said Isabell was the child's biological mother and threatened to harm herself and the child.

Timeline of Amber Alert

According to the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office, the child was asleep in his grandparents' home during the time of the alleged abduction.

On Sunday at 7:07 a.m., family discovered he was missing.

After searching for the boy on their own, and looking at surveillance doorbell camera video, they discovered the boy's biological mother had taken him from his bed after midnight.

The family called 911 around 7:51 a.m. and deputies responded to the home.

According to the sheriff's office, they looked over the video and started investigating.

Investigators said deputies contacted a friend of the suspect who claimed Isabell stated she would harm herself and the child. Once it was determined the child had likely been taken and possibly in danger, the process of issuing an Amber Alert started.
