After 43 years, this landmark restaurant in Miami Lakes is closing for good

Beverly Hills Café

The sign on the door said it all: The Beverly Hills Café in Miami Lakes has closed permanently.

The restaurant, which was located in the Cypress Village Shopping Center on Miami Lakes Drive, opened in 1979 and has been in business for 43 years. It had become something of a landmark, known for its generous portions, fresh salads with 15 different homemade dressing options and honey rolls so good even the carb-shy couldn’t bear to refuse them. You could get as many as you like, too: On its website, the restaurant estimated it has served more than 95 million rolls over the years.

There was no warning for those coming by for a chicken club or a grilled dolphin sandwich, just a note from management on the door that thanked diners and employees.

“The team at Beverly Hills Café is sad to inform you that we are permanently closed,” it read, according to a photo posted by WPLG Local10.com. “After 43 years in the business our deepest gratitude to our amazing customers and staff for supporting us through the years.”

A notice on Yelp confirmed the closing.

Actor Josh Gad, who is famous for voicing such characters as Olaf in “Frozen” and starring in the Broadway show “Book of Mormon,” grew up in Hollywood, Florida, and had recently posted a photo of himself on Instagram as a kid in a Beverly Hills Café T-shirt.

“Thanks for the share,” the café responded

The restaurant at one point had 10 different locations, according to Local10, including one in South Miami. All are now closed.
