Man in Japan spends $632,000 on tuna

A man in Japan is probably tuna's biggest fan.

Kiyoshi Kimora, who owns a large Japanese sushi chain called Kiyomura Corp, claimed the elusive title after spending $632,000 on a Bluefin tuna.

He bought the fish at an auction in Tokyo -- and honestly, the insane purchase is something he does all the time.

Kimora has won the high-end food auction every year for the past six years. In fact, in 2014, he spent a whopping $1.76 million.

According to the World Wildlife Organization, Bluefin tuna are on the brink of extinction due to overfishing.

Some people are calling the auction a publicity stunt that doesn't represent the actual market value of tuna.

According to a report from the National Marine Fisheries Service in 2011, Bluefin tuna should cost about $10 a pound -- rather than the $3,000 per pound price Kimora shelled out.

Regardless of whether or not this is a publicity stunt to improve the reputation of the fish, the joy of winning must be priceless.
